In a few weeks, trick-or-treaters will wander the streets and neighborhoods, filling bags with their evening’s bounty. But sadly, Halloween brings out more than just mini goblins, ghosts, and ghouls.
Each year, the holiday sees a sizable increase in the number of DUIs and other alcohol-related incidents. The numbers show that Halloween is one of the deadliest days of the year on the roads:
- 36% of pedestrian fatalities on Halloween night involve a drunk driver.
- Children are more than twice as likely to be killed by a car while walking on Halloween night.
